A work in progress, not complete by any means, but hopefully soon enough. I will try to setup a test blog to let it be seen in action.
The idea is to let anybody create a complete working Newspaper without worrying about the site looking like a blog. I think it’s about time Wordpress gets a nice makeover.
Right now, I’m just copying the NYTimes.com for an idea as to where and how I should place everything. I’m trying to keep the layout as liquid as possible which is hard to do when one wishes to see borders. A lot of features need to be added and a lot of functionality to really make it work seamlessly. Some of the things at the top of my head would be to have different layouts in case of any Breaking News, an AJAX powered small tabbed section on the right and different layouts for different PAGES as well as CATEGORIES. Site can have multiple authors etc. etc.
The more I think the more features I think of. For now, just hope that I find enough time to at least release the first version.
Update: (Aug 7) I’ve setup a test blog so you can actually see it working. Test it, see how it works. I have setup a dummy user “test” with password “password” to allow you to play around a little bit more. Do let me know if there are any issues.There is a lot of work to be done, but hopefully, it should be ready soon. Enjoy!
